A (Wednes)Day in the Life

Hello blogsphere!

First, I want to send a HUGE shout out to all of the people who braved the icy blizzard to come to our fundraiser at Davannis!

Even in severe weather we are $94 closer to our reading center! Thank you all so much! If you couldn't make it last night, check back for the next fundraiser night!

First, here is a glimpse into the 3-5th grade staff meeting: staff working hard coming up with ideas for program, kiva and updating on Penny Wars!
Now, today was freezing cold so our young people were cooped up in the building. You can see the effects of cabin fever on our kindergarten group here. Check out the before and after!

Our Middle Schoolers have a Beats and Rhymes group. They are working on producing their own beats. Here are some pics of them in the 'lab' working.
Today, a challenge was issued and accepted during middle school snack. Tomorrow marks the first ever Sheridan Beacons Idol competition. Staff are warming up their vocals, memorizing lyrics and getting excited to see who will be the next Beacons Idol!!!

Who will win??
Then I checked in with our Girl Scouts. Today they were researching the Girl Scouts of America. They took a break to smile for a picture!

Our Beacon partners with the YWCA for a few programs. Two of them are AYP (Asian Youth Program) for 3-5th grade and All That for 6-8th grade. These groups are both for Asian youth, and they have tons of fun!

Here you can see AYP playing a group game.

And All That guys working on essays, playing cards and just chillin.
And here is an action shot of our Soccer group playing kickball. This was a great game! Everyone played their hardest!
Eventually it was time to go, so I will say goodbye with this group of young people heading home after another awesome (Wednes)day at Sheridan Beacons!!

Check back soon for more updates!
